Last summer I went to five different weddings that is double
how many I had been to previously. This summer I am in two weddings and going
to one more!
In my previous post I talked about a bunch of my friends are
having babies well they are also getting married!
This weekend was one of my best friend’s wedding shower and
it was beautiful! Also it is crazy to me how much kitchen stuff you get at a
wedding shower…. I did not know that a person would need that many kitchen
utensils.
Not that I think I am getting marred any time soon but in
going to all of these weddings I have definitely started to formulate opinions
on what I would like or not like in my future wedding.
I use to think that I wanted the big huge wedding with
everyone whom I ever encountered invited. Well then I found out how expensive
it is… $50 per person… Yikes! I think now after seeing the variety of different
size weddings I would like something smaller so that it feels more personal.
Another thing that I have learned and need to remember is to
not get caught up in the small details and to really invest your time, money,
and efforts to the things that really matter to you. For example, at a typical wedding a person
would normally find grandiose flower arrangements but my thoughts on it are why
are they so important when they are just thrown away the next day. Some may say that it is important because of
the look it gives the ceremony and that is fine but like I said put your energy
in to the details that really matter.
All in all from all the weddings that I have recently been a
part of and I am sure the ones to come; what truly matters is that at the end
of the day the wedding is about the couple and celebrating their love for one
another. I am glad that I can be a part
of their celebration.
Hey Brittney,
ReplyDeletethat's crazy that you had 5 weddings. Is it something like 27 dresses for you! I myself have 3 wedding this year and 2 of which I am standing up in! I'm going crazy trying to plan things games, gifts, and more! I myself do not buy things for the kitchen I buy things for the Bathroom!
Have any advice for games or a way to make my stressful 2 months in Aug and Sept easier!
Haha I didn't even think about the 27 dresses but yes it is like that.
ReplyDeleteAs far as advice for games.... it has been my experience that people would rather skip all of the "typical" games. If you are going to do something I would recommend something simple that doesn't take to much time (because it will take a lot of time for the bride to open her gifts) and then the winner can win the centerpiece.
I hope that helps!
It is beautiful picture!! but scary to know the wedding expenses....
ReplyDeleteThat very helpful thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat article! I like your idea on skipping the games part. Guests have been through typical bridal shower games and it has been way over done.
ReplyDelete5 weddings?! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI use to want a big wedding too... however last year I went to two weddings one that had 600 people and the other was just 50 or so and the big wedding was just crazy. The bride and groom spent most of their time stopping to say hi to everyone and that was all you got to see them. I definitely thing a small, intimate wedding is the way to go.
